Thread: Hp pavilion dv6: no sound...from headphones

i've got linux mint way, 1 similar ubuntu, moreso on subject, , fact signed access soundcheck's wonderful alsa upgrade script made me post here: why not use have? anyways...

here's problem (briefly): out of box install gives no sound. absolutely. yet pulseaudio shows me there sound streams coming out of stac92xx (that's name gives card according lspci intel corporation 82801i (ich9 family) hd audio controller (rev 03) (codec: idt 92hd75b3x5 ), , registers laptop's internal mic (i think). seems registers nothing 3 jack front panel want use: doesn't register external microphone, nor hear out of 2 headphones jack.
of course played around volume control until eyes bled. no dice. volume control showed me among other things, master, pcm, speaker , headphones. checked max , unmuted. turned on every single option. still nothing.

that's when upgraded alsa, , started playing around models in alsa-base.conf . turns out latest versiuons of alsa able internal speakers of laptop work. accidentally found out external microphone directly streaming external headphone jacks: hear myself speak no sound system, no music etc... furthermore record external mic no problem, , hear results... on laptop's internal speakers.

i've made progress able hear system external speakers, in opinion better (mediocre) internal speakers (bassless, example). i've been able activate headphones (that reroute sound output) using program called hda-verb-0.3 it's dirty hack: commands requiring sudo access have reiterated @ every boot (hence needing password) , lose ability play multiple streams @ 1 time latest snapshot of alsa.

in all, if suggest me better fix i've got i'm ready delve code , text files if need be. similar problems hope helps you:
(dirty) hack (which works) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/363870
soundcheck's great alas upgrade script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6589810

hardware info: running intel centrino 2 processor, ati hd4500 series card (aplay -l gives me 3 choices, primary sound card (see up) analog, primary sound card digital, , hdmi output ati card.

thx in advance answers

hi,
same problem, same (dirty) solution...
think alsa doesn't support jack autodetect our sound card...
so, me real problem "how can detect if jack plugged in?" if understand how works , can think build daemon.
