convert midi input to basic tones?

ive been toying midi while here using midi shield sparkfun electronics, , want use midi input jack take midi , transform tones on speaker. basic im not sure how change note on , off tone on , off, , right frequency tones played. thanks.

use midi input code used in :-

then @ bit when fires solenoids replace commands ones tone().
