i'm thinking setting server, little confused domain names. can host own domain name using bind 9 or still need register somewhere?

do have need host dns service itself?

perhaps mean want map domain name box's ip?

need bind if you're going run own dns server, can manage own dns, instance if had block of ip addresses , needed manage dns them.
