Using standard serial and NewSoftSerial togeather

does know if can use arduino standard serials pins 1 , 2, , use newsoftserial connection @ same time.  

i have telit gsm module connected serial pins 1 , 2 , have gps module connected other pis use newsoftserial.  i have them both operate @ same time (at differents speeds) if possible.  please, can advise on this?  thank you.
