Sound Analysis with Arduino

hi everyone!!

i working in project different materials have distinguished.  i wanted analyzing frequency of sounds when hit surface.  i have checked frequencies of each material distinguishable 1 hooking cheap microphone computer.  the challenge autonomously arduino...  :-/ how hook microphone board?  and, have library use sound analysis??
