Alternative method of powering a raspi - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi,
got raspberry pi , ordered proper micro usb 5v/1a power supply.
ps ordered arrive in 3 weeks :(

meanwhile i've been using smartphone p.s. it's 700ma , works part. i'm raspbmc freezing everynow , then. yesterday checked voltages on tp1 , tp2 , voltage drops 4.5v under heavy load. not good.

question:
there provision connecting external ps other microusb? i've got big enough ps made in college (long time ago) , solder couple of wires raspi if possible.

\you can feed pi power through gpio pins 5v , gnd. buy female headers , don't need solder pi.
