Thread: commercial +static library + packaging
i developed c library want sell commercially use in embedded devices.
using archiver utility created static library.
know can cracked , stolen legitimate companies common way sell static libraries (make difficult enough call license)?
can create static library using ar tool on linux , work in c compiler if provide headers? or need archive tool specific compiler?
example:
if create static library on linux , attempt link library on windows app.
required build static library on windows or .a compatible c compiler.
if have 2 static libraries:
companyname.structures.a
companyname.text.a -- text depends on structures.a
, companies paid companyname.text.a
companyname.text.a have bits of pieces used companyname.structures.a , nothing more. way provide buyer companyname.text.a headers , it.? (i assume want make sure)
technologies me constraint # of developers or specific developers or specific project? know methods use hardware approach (key fob)
compilers use server http://www.macrovision.com/ check if license has expired.
none of approaches me.. see once have .a never have pay project license fee again ... true?
thanks,
lm
why asking on open source forum?
don't think many people here against proprietary software per se, don't think implement drm.
or more positive, im guessing youve used ubuntu, , hope found refreshing not having sign stupid licence agreements, or deal windows genuine advantage (or ever call now) etc etc.
maybe customers appreciate too, , allow job coding rather worry ip issues. , thats before talking open source routes, release open source, let people use it, can hire expert (you wrote it) sort issues, add features, etc.
im not expert on embedded c library market dynamics, assume customers larger companies willing pay that.
